Brian and Nancy Davis, a retired couple from Portland, Oregon make their home for half the year on the rim of Laguna de Apoyo outside of Granada, Nicaragua. In an effort to improve the living situation of their Nicaraguan neighbors, Nancy and Brian initiated and support several projects in the nearby Comarcas de la Laguna de Apoyo.  Along with work on the infrastructure of the two schools, they started a business producing the Coci-Nica, an efficient wood burning cook stove and built and operate Clínica Apoyo, a rural clinic that provides basic health care, medications and health education to the community of 3,000 rural poor. In 2017 they added a sport leadership program  which now serves over 70 youth residing in the community. In 2019 they opened a community center with the goal of providing a space and resources for the whole community to come together for recreation, educational opportunities, meetings, events and celebrations.

These projects are successful due to the wonderful Nicaraguan staff that handles all aspects of the day to day operations.
